The Buttocks
The buttocks don’t need much of an introduction, any more than the stomach, even though it’s not right there in front of you. As with other “immediate result” movements this Perfect Posture method will show how the buttocks change instantly with a balanced, or Type 2 way of “standing”.
The difference between the tone of the buttocks when standing in a mainstream Type 1 pose, or Type 2 balanced positioning is immediately apparent.
Follow these directions and you will see and feel the immediate result of shifting from a Type 1 position to a Type 2 or Perfect Posture positioning:
Again “stand up straight”, the way you were taught to stand in school. Lock those knees back. Chest out. Shoulders back.
Now relax putting all of your weight on your locked back knees and hips. Now poke your buttocks with your index finger. Press hard enough to make an indention and feel the tone of your buttocks.
You’ll have to use your imagination to follow these directions. It’s difficult to find a photo of someone poking themselves in the buttocks with their index finger.
Considered poor taste I suppose…,so imagine this balloon is your buttocks. Give it a good poke while standing “properly”. The way you were taught to stand in school.
Now unlock the knees just slightly. Just slightly. Just to that point where they are unlocked and you would fall down if not for those big strong leg muscles holding you up.
Now position the shoulders vertical to the knees. Now poke yourself in the buttocks. Note the muscle tone of the buttocks. It now has some tone to it. It’s not flaccid like when your knees were locked back.
The shape is most likely rounder also. This is Type 2 posture. This is the way you should be standing 98% of the time. Not the other way around. But, in fact, this is not a position to maintain either.
You should be moving back and forth, side to side…,if only slightly. Always when standing.
This is the shape and tone your buttocks would habitually assume if standing in a balanced fashion became habitual. A habit is something that is done without conscious effort. With practice the Perfect Posture method can become habitual and be done without conscious effort. Like balancing on a moving bicycle. Most anyone can do it.
It’s just that you’ve just never been taught. Your leg muscles have been hobbled by western civilization’s focus on a human behavior that has become an obsession. Most in western civilization have been imprinted with it and it continually preoccupies our thoughts on how we should be standing.
Like most obsessions it’s misunderstood and becomes unhealthy.
I’ll be working on a YouTube channel so I can demonstrate these movements and you can see the Perfect Posture method in action. Stay tuned.
