Foot Position In the Perfect Posture Method
The feet should be at a 30 degree angle from each other as shown in the illustration. This position for the feet is for stability and alignment. Too little angle between them and you’re unstable side to side. Too much angle and you’re unstable front to back. And you’re not balanced on your hip joints either way.
Incorrect angle also causes torsion stresses on the hips, knees and ankles. The line of reference should run from the middle of the heel through the second toe. Feet directly below the shoulders.
Realize that these illustrations of positions in the Perfect Posture method are ideals. They are static pictures of an ideal. The Perfect Posture method is all about movement.
You should not hold any position, pose or proper way of standing for prolonged periods. In the Perfect Posture method movement is essential…, even if only slightly.
If you’re going to stand for extended periods, such as standing in line, you’re going to need to shift weight to rest and hover around your axis. It’s the same principle as with a spring, only the body moves and it’s axis moves with it.
If standing at attention in a formal environment you should shift weight, even slightly, and unnoticeable if possible. Barely moving yet hovering around your axis.
This is a way of reducing the damage done by standing too long in a Type 1, formal or parade position.
Then, when able, you can stretch, do yoga, squat, or any Perfect Posture friendly method to repair the damage done.
You can apply any Perfect Posture friendly method when you are out of the formal environment.
You need to be aware you have an axis. You need to know where this ideal axis is, even though it is constantly moving.
You need to know how to move to keep your body and gravitational load balancing around this axis. You can hover around it while you shift your weight from foot to foot. You can dance a little 2 step.
Hover, float, dance, move, whatever you want to call it. All the while being aware of your axis, core, center, whatever you want to call that.
Follow the tips as stated in the tips blog and move, move, move. No need to make a spectacle of yourself. Just move
Your body will develop a form and tone it is naturally meant to have. Your back and joints will last a lifetime like they were created to do. Without exercise!
